What is This Project About?

This Phase I Study will assess all of Mills Road and Cherry Hill Road, which includes portions of unincorporated Will County, the Village of New Lenox, and the City of Joliet. The Phase I Study will include preliminary engineering and environmental assessments as the first step in a process to develop improvements along the corridor. This study will help the Project Team to understand problems and develop solutions that are the best fit for the community.

Why Are You Doing This?

The Will County Division of Transportation (WCDOT) launched the Mills-Cherry Hill Road Study with a goal of improving safety and mobility in the study area.

What is the Illinois Route 53 Study and how does it relate to the Mills-Cherry Hill Study?

The Illinois Route 53 Study is a separate study currently being conducted by the Illinois Department of Transportation (Department). IDOT is currently engaged in preliminary engineering and environmental studies (Phase I) for the improvements of Illinois Route 53 (IL 53) from N. River Road to Patterson Road located in the City of Joliet and the Village of Elwood, in Will County, Illinois.

The Mills-Cherry Hill Study ties into the Illinois Route 53 Study at US Route 52. IDOT's IL Route 53 Study also extends east along Mills Road up to and including the US Route 52 intersection.
